Editors Canada appoints interim executive director

Toronto, January 13, 2020 — The Editors’ Association of Canada (Editors Canada) has announced the appointment of Lucy White as interim executive director of the association. The appointment follows the resignation of executive director John Yip-Chuck effective January 17.

“We are sad to see [Yip-Chuck] go but are grateful to have had him as executive director for the past three years,” said president Heather Buzila. “He has done an outstanding job and has made some very positive and lasting changes to how things work at the office. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

White, a member of the Osborne Group, will act as Editors Canada’s interim executive director beginning on January 20, for the next three to six months while the association goes through the process to hire a new executive director. She has extensive hands-on experience in small- to medium-sized volunteer-based organizations, focusing on governance, building human and financial capacity, program development, and stakeholder engagement.

She addresses the high-level long-term objectives of an organization by ensuring that volunteers and staff have the resources and supports they require to work effectively. She is also adept at managing day-to-day operations by working collaboratively with staff in all functional areas.

“We welcome [White] and look forward to working with her,” said Buzila.

The national executive council will soon begin the search for a permanent executive director.
